Frances has been involved with music all her life. She began teaching Social Sciences and Music, and soon after, became a regular on a parish music roster. She continued teaching in various places, until she stopped Secondary teaching, at St Peter’s College, in 2002. Since then, she has worked with Jan Keenan in the coordination of Music at the Cathedral.
Frances also does part-time teaching of English to International students. In addition she is a rehearsal pianist for the Palmerston North Choral Society and from time to time accompanies singers for performances and exams.

Jan has been part of St Patrick’s Parish since 1973 when she married Michael in the Church. They have 5 adult children and 2 granddaughters. Jan works part time at BNZ in a customer service role.
Jan has always enjoyed singing from a very young age and as a teenager sang professionally for several years.
Her involvement in the parish music ministry spans over 20 years singing both as a choir member and cantor.
The catalyst to deeper commitment to liturgical music came about in the early 90’s when she was given the opportunity to attend an international music convention in Melbourne. There she attended workshops/presentations of the composers whose music we regularly use in the parish. It was very inspiring.
For the last six years she has been co-music director at the Cathedral working with Frances Siddle.
Jan love to sing and really enjoy encouraging others to gain confidence in being leaders of song.
Her motto: - to sing in church is to pray twice!!
